The Reading List: Michigan State Goes Kosher

There’s a large Middle Eastern population in Michigan, but there’s never been a kosher Middle Eastern restaurant &#8212 until now. Woody’s Oasis, an eatery near Michigan State University, is getting the hekhsher, according to an email from Kosher Michigan.

In other campus news, the Israeli team wins the debate over whether Israel is a “rogue state,” hosted at Cambridge University. For the record, the Israeli team opposed that statement. [YNet]

Meanwhile, two Pennsylvania state senators are complaining to the president of the state’s Lincoln University about a resident professor, Kaukab Siddique, who said that “We must stand united to defeat, to destroy, to dismantle Israel” and reportedly questioned the validity of the Holocaust. [JTA]

Not exactly college news, but it has to do with students and it’s cool: High school kids in Tel Aviv are petitioning their principal to allow a textbook that presents both the Israeli and Palestinian historical narratives. [Ha’aretz]
