The University at Buffalo has been added to the list of university campuses that have seen anti-Semitic graffiti this year.

According to The Spectrumthe anti-Semitic slurs were found on March 23 in a men’s bathroom in Capen Hall, the university’s main administration building. The University Police Department believes it to have been an isolated incident, but increased patrols near the Hillel and campus locations where students were celebrating Purim.

The Jewish Student Union president, Andrew Meyer, told The Spectrum that the graffiti was “the most horrific and derogatory term” against Jews and that he’d never seen anything like it before: “I’ve seen swastikas in the past, but that is nothing compared to this.”

The slurs had been removed by the time of publication, but photos sent to The Spectrum suggested they had been in the bathroom for at least two weeks before being reported.
