The New York Times says that the Master’s is the new Bachelor’s.
Then how do they explain my employment? Huh? Huh?
Anyway, Jenna Weissman Joselit points out that not only are MA program proliferating right now, but there are more Jewish Studies programs popping up as well.
In the Times article, they cite the appearance of a new MA in Jewish Studies at Rutgers, for instance.
Anyway, I’ll have to agree with Joselit when she says:
Call me starry-eyed and naïve, but I can’t help thinking that, whatever form they take — traditional or newfangled — M.A. programs in Jewish studies end up being good for the Jews.
