Loving the Stranger This WebWire celebrates Pesach – but, not to worry, its contents are nowhere near as bland as the matzoh we’ll soon be sick of. Instead, taking a cue from the Haggadah’s instruction to “Love the Stranger, for you were a stranger in the land of Egypt,” we’ve chosen to riff on the theme of strangers. This “xenophilic” issue brings you non-Jews who are into Jewish frats and klezmer; “A Companion’s Guide to Judaism” written by a gentile who has spent her life surrounded by Jews; and Jewish women seeking their place in the Conservative rabbinate. Finally, to commemorate the greatest escape scene in the Old Testament – the flight from Egypt, of course – we have a mass journey through New York. It’s not 40 years in the desert, but 100 miles in the City ain’t bad. You might even be tempted to cap off this year’s seders with a hearty “Next Year in Brooklyn.” So strap on your helmets and enjoy the ride.
