Irvine 11, Abbas at the UN, and some proud young Jews | Parsing

The Irvine 11 were convicted on Friday of conspiring to disrupt and then disrupting a speech by Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren at UC Irvine.  Our own Gabe Schivone interviewed one of them, Taher Herzallah.

Making the rounds online: a nifty graphic showing which countries will support the PA’s statehood bid at the U.N.

Finally, Jewish Voice for Peace’s young adult arm, Young, Jewish, and Proud (the folks who organized the disruption of Bibi’s speech at the GA), has released a new video of constituents declaring their right to self-determination as upcoming “mentors, elders, and radical listeners.”

Should the Irvine 11 be punished for disrupting Oren?  Were they exercising their free speech rights or infringing on someone else’s?  Is the UN vote helpful, counterproductive, or meaningless?  Tell us what you think in the comments!
