I don’t have much to say about this, but check out some Palestinian protesters in the West Bank utilizing the latest 3-D movie hit/best picture nominee for their own ends. Pretty impressive, at the very least, that they were able to get all that blue paint:

It seems dubious to compare the message of “Avatar” to the Palestinians’ cause, but the similarities probably increased when the IDF decided to fire tear gas on them later that day.
I’m all for the Palestinians’ right to self determination but this is just stupid
But the Jews are the true natives of this land. They were there first. How unusual to see pro-Palestinian protesters dressed in blue.
Ben, your article – its last paragraph in particular – has had me laughing all day. Thanks
Avatar was pretty much a movie about colonialism, and the claim that Israel is a neocolonial power (esp in the OTs) is central to some common Palistinian arguments-so the comparison is not so out-of-nowhere (nor is it THAT absurd, imo).
And yeah, that last paragraph was pretty funny, but the humor is rather dark, no?
Ia Avatar simply a fantasy? or is there something more significant to it? Are the writers trying to make a point?
